Hannibal’s Local Secret That Every Visitor Needs to Know

Hannibal is the best place to score some of the lowest gas prices in the country — you just have to know where to go!Hannibal Murals | Hannibal, MO

All the locals know to head to Mark Twain Avenue in Hannibal for a fill-up.  The prices on Mark Twain Avenue are often 50+ cents below the national average!  Truly, you could drive all over this great nation, and not find cheaper gas.  Of course, that would kind of defeat your objective.

When you take the I72 exit to Mark Twain Avenue in Hannibal, you’ll have five stations to choose from for cheap gas.

And here’s another little quirky secret the locals know: the price on the marquee is not the price you’ll pay at the pump.  It’s actually LOWER – usually by about ten cents!  You don’t need to have some sort of membership card or anything.  That’s just the way we roll on the Avenue.

If your travels take you north or south along Highway 61 at Hannibal, you’ll still want to make the short detour to Mark Twain Avenue.  Gas on Highway 61 runs about a quarter higher than the Avenue.  It’s only about a quarter mile out of your way.

And when you drop in for the gas, you just as well stop in and stay a bit.  Mark Twain Avenue is literally the distance of a few blocks to Hannibal’s historic Main Street.  That’s where you’ll find lots of local restaurants and unique shops.  Rather than spend excess money on gas, spend it on a nice family meal or a hand-crafted gift!

On your way to the Avenue, you can also pop by and see our staff at the Hannibal Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.  We sit right at the top of Mark Twain Avenue.  It’s the brand-new building that looks like a riverboat docked at 925 Grand Avenue.  We can give you some recommendations!
