Two beautiful sculptures have been added to the entrance to the Hannibal Visitors Center and the Hannibal Riverfront!

Visitors and Hannibal residents alike can now enjoy two public art sculptures that were installed in September through a partnership with the Hannibal Arts Council and Hannibal Parks & Recreation.

“Styles” was installed at the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau entrance on Grand Avenue and “Journey with Color” was installed at the Hannibal Riverfront.  The sculptures are collaborative projects featuring the collective work of two artists, Jessie Cargas of Rosebud Mo. and Steve Gumble of Hannibal.  Cargas is the creator of the foundational metal sculptures, while Gumble added his unique and precise pinstriping to the sculptures.  The combination of the two artists working together makes for two interesting, intricate and unique sculptures.

The sculptures were purchased and donated by Michael Gaines, with Hannibal Machine and Welding generously arranging the base painting.

The Hannibal Arts Council public art sculpture project also currently includes three additional sculptures on display.  Hannibal native and 1997 HHS graduate Nick Willett is featured with two sculptures – “Dematerialize, Manifest, Transport”, installed outside the HHS Auditorium, and “Ascendants”, installed in front of the Hanibal Arts Council – with Cargas also being featured with “Metal Splash”, installed at the Ronny Ferrel Hannibal Aquatic Center.
