There are countless adventures planned in Hannibal!

There are so many attractions, festivals, musical performances, and local traditions coming in 2024 – it’s easy to find something to discover unlike anything you’ve ever done before.

Has the thought of living in the Wild West and tracking down outlaws crossed your mind?  If so, the Twain on Main festival may be just what you’re looking for.  Hosted in Historic Downtown Hannibal on May 25 and May 26, the event brings the tastes, sights, sounds, and experiences of a bygone era to life – with a theme based on Mark Twain’s “Roughing It”.

Have you always wanted to go to an evening concert to experience music and performers who are new to you?  The weekly Music Under the Stars concert series fits the bill each Thursday evening from June through August.

Explore African American culture and family-friendly performances, games, food, and fun for all during the 27th Annual Juneteenth Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15 in Central Park.  A parade, bounce houses, crowning of Lil’ Prince, Lil’ Princess, King, and Queen Juneteenth royalty, a three-on-three basketball tournament, and many other adventures make this a can’t-miss event.

Ever wonder what it was like to walk in the footprints of Tom Sawyer or Becky Thatcher?  Stop wondering and live the experience during the 69th Annual National Tom Sawyer Days, presented by the Hannibal Jaycees!  The fence painting contest, a frog jumping competition, the Tomboy Sawyer Contest, a fun-filled carnival, parade, fireworks, and musical performances are among the numerous activities set from July 3 to July 7 in Historic Downtown Hannibal.

What happens when Victorian sensibilities and style mix with science fiction, music, art, and personal creativity?  Find out during the 10th anniversary of the Big River Steampunk Festival in downtown Hannibal from August 30 to September 2.  Explore an airship, dress up in full Steampunk attire, engage in a parasol duel, take in unique performances – it’s all here in the nation’s largest outdoor Steampunk festival.

Throughout the year, there are so many adventures you can try – cruise along the Mighty Mississippi on the Mark Twain Riverboat, try to make it out of a challenging escape room within an hour, taste a new dish that is unmistakably “Hannibal”, sleep in a bed and breakfast once called home by Hannibal’s early residents, walk through Mark Twain Cave and follow the same passageways where Tom and Becky got lost in Mark Twain’s favorite book – only your imagination can limit the possibilities.
