Join Hannibal Parks and Recreation and the Mississippi Hills Missouri Master Naturalist chapter for a Night Hike in Sodalis Nature Preserve on Friday, July 24th.
Being outside and present during the transition from day to dusk to night gives us the opportunity to slow down and tune in to nature’s crepuscular (dawn & dusk) comings and goings. While most of the Indiana Bats are in their summer forest homes, there’s always some bats around Sodalis including the endangered Gray Bat maternity colony. Making seasonal observations along the way and heightening our senses as we return in the dark, is a fun evening activity for the family and Friday night dates! The full program is approximately 2 hours and covers a 2 mile paved loop with a steep incline. Participants have the option to return sooner as desired. Please register as space is limited. Meet at the Shelter – Parking Lot off Ely Street
Programs are led by Hannibal Parks and Recreation’s Nature Interpreter, Gale Rublee, and members of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalist chapter.
