The Midwest is known for having agriculturally productive soils. Different types of soil can help determine how plants access nutrients, hold and drain water, and other factors that support plant growth. Missouri soils tend to have more clay, but can also include sand, limestone and other combinations of soil types. Soil is necessary to life, but how does it connect to us? Through the plants! The relationship between different types of plants and the soil that they’re grown in is an essential ecosystem story.
