Spring Peepers and Chorus Frogs are some of the first to start their serenades. It’s only the male frogs that make noise and they’re calling to the females who will be laying their eggs in the water. The transformation of tadpoles into frogs is one of nature’s miracles. We’ll start at the shelter with some fun activities then walk up to the pond at dusk to listen to and observe the frogs. The full program is approximately two hours and will include a steep incline on the paved trail to the pond. Participants have the option to return sooner as desired. Please register as space is limited.

It’s said that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. The weather is unpredictable but Hannibal Parks and Recreation nature programs are available for guided winter strolls through Sodalis Nature Preserve. Nature interpreter Gale Rublee will lead the programs along with members of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalists. Nature programs are free thanks to the sponsorship from Hannibal BASF.
